Biochemical and molecular methods of identifying meloidogyne species: symposium introduction.

چکیده
Root-knot nematodes belonging to the genus Meloidogyne are the most economically important group of plant-parasitic nematodes. Thei r worldwide distribution, extensive host ranges, and interaction with other plant pathogens in diseas e complexes rank them among the top plant pathogens affecting the world's food supply (5). Even though only four Meloidogyne species M. incognita, M. javanica, M. arenaria, and M. hapla--account for approximately 95% of all root-knot nematode infestations of agricultural land (6), accurate identification of these species based on morphology is not a simple task. Unfortunately, however, precise identification is required to effectively implement nonchemical management strategies. Our inability to readily identify Meloidogyne species is a major obstacle to the application of such strategies

متن کاملDetermination of lignin-modifying enzymes (LMEs) in Hyphodermella species using biochemical and molecular techniques
White-rot basidiomycetes are one of the most important lignolytic microorganisms. These fungi have been reported to secrete three main classes of lignin degrading enzymes: lignin peroxidases (LiPs), manganese peroxidases (MnPs) and laccases. In this study, for the first time the lignin degrading capability of two plant pathogens i.e. Hyphodermella rosae and H. corrugata was evaluated using both...
متن کاملMolecular Identification of Pathogenic Enterococci and Evaluation of Multi-drug Resistance in Enterococcus Species Isolated From Clinical samples of Some Hospitals in Tehran, Iran
Background: Multidrug-resistant (MDR) enterococci cause many problems for physicians and infection control specialists in the recent years. Hence, by the identification of antibiotic resistance patterns of enterococci in different geographical regions an appropriate strategy can be developed to prevent bacterial antibiotic resistance and provide effective treatment. The current study aimed at i...

متن کاملMolecular polymorphism and phylogenetic relationship in some Meloidogyne spp.: application to the taxonomy of Meloidogyne.
Proteins and various isozymes were investigated by direct analysis of single specimens in order to check molecular genetic variability, which is not rare in Meloidogyne species in spite of parthenogenetic reproduction. Variability was found in esterases, ocglycerophosphate, malate dehydrogenases, and some other proteins. Other loci appear monomorphic in the genus (for example, catalase), Distin...
